1942 - Born in Bournemouth, England.
1947 - Family emigrated to South Africa
1957 - Studied ceramics and sculpture at
Durban Art School(South Africa).
1959 - Apprenticed to Walsh Marais
Potteryand then Sammy Liebermann.
Pottery in the Transvaal.
1961 - Started own studio in Sycamore Road,
Durban(South Africa).
1964 - Travelled to Europe. In England visited
Bernard Leach, Lucie Rie and Michael
Cardew. In Stockholm, Sweden,
invited to work with Stig Gustavsberg
Factory.
1965 - Started a studio in Staufen near
Freiberg on edge of Black Forest,
Germany.
1966 - Invited to teach at Hamburg Academy of
Art, Germany.
1968 - Returned to South Africa.
1969 - Travelled to Far East via Bombay, Sri
Lanka,Singapore, Bangkok, Hong
Kong, visiting ceramic collections,
museums and antique shops.Thence
on to Japan, visiting local potters and
staying with Shoji Hamada at Mashiko
Pottery Invited to exhibit at Isetan in
Tokyo and at the S.A. Embassy.
1970 - Building studio and homestead in
Shongweni (South Africa)
1973 - Starting family, frequent visits to Europe
for exhibitions, completed numerous
panels andcommissions.
1996 - Travelled to Japan.
